Pelorus Kitchen

Client Brief:

  • Wanted a modern, rustic looking kitchen, designed for everyday 'family life' and still remain true to the spirit and charm of the original homestead.

Products Used:

  • Island Breakfast Bar - Original wall sarking/lining (Rimu), denailed and reused to create the new rustic facings to the storage cupboards and to the side panels of the island breakfast bar.
  • Splashback - Original bricks, cleaned and reused.
  • Scullery Door - A façade internal opening scullery door was made to keep the consistency of the back-wall tall units.

This client had taken over the family’s original homestead which was in a state close to ruin. They were also very keen on keeping some of the homesteads original charm as well as reusing some of the original materials to create older style features incorporated into a modern day kitchen.

The placement of the kitchens current freestanding stove was the position of the original kitchen fireplace, hence the brick splashback in the new kitchen.
